Step 1: Basecoat
The Spectra Chrome Turntable & Rolling Base is placed in the spray booth and the parts premounted on Dynamic stands are basecoated one at a time. Having a turntable allows the painter to position themselves with respect to the rotating part & booth lighting conditions as to see the “set edge” when applying the basecoat finish. Having a smooth, slick, shiny basecoated surface is the key to a perfect job. |
Step 2: Metal Spray
Remember, do not touch the basecoated parts after they are dry or fingerprints will show in the metal spray. Remove the turntable from the rollerbase and place it in the spindle of the HV-T basin. After the part is sensitized and rinsed with DI water, a mist of metal spray must first be applied to the entire surface area before building up the metal deposit to a final shine and mirror appearance. Having a turntable allows the applicator to rotate the part in front of the metal spray, which ensures a perfect uniform coating.
All HV-T Systems come “Turntable ready” simply insert the optional turntable into the spindle at the center of the basin. HV-T System shown with optional Spectra Chrome turntable. |
Step 3: Topcoating
After metalizing, the HV-T system is rolled out of the spray booth and the turntable is placed back on the roller base for topcoating. Remember, do not touch the metalized part or smudges or fingerprints will show in the topcoated finish. The topcoat bonds the basecoat & the metal spray layers together and provides incredible durability. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet pigments can be added to achieve a mirror finish of any color.
